Does Xometry VQC accept PDF or Excel inspection reports?

A searchable, complete PDF can preserve the report’s visible rows, approvals, page relationships, and correlated evidence. It should be classified as an inspection report based on its contents, not rejected merely because its extension is PDF.

A scan can also be usable when every page is upright, complete, high enough resolution, and legible. Searchable text is better, but the correct outcome for a weak scan is “could not verify,” not a false statement that PDF is unsupported.

XLSX and XLSM files are ZIP-based Office workbooks. A secure reader can extract displayed cell values and workbook structure without executing macros. The presence of macros should never be a reason to run embedded code.

Legacy XLS uses a different binary format and needs a compatible parser. When formulas are present, the reviewer should know whether the workbook contains cached displayed results or only formulas that require recalculation.

• Read XLSX and XLSM cell values without executing VBA or external links.
• Keep sheet names and row/column relationships so characteristics remain understandable.
• Report password protection, corruption, missing cached formula results, or unreadable embedded images honestly.
• Use the original workbook when the official workflow requires it, even if a PDF copy was sufficient for preflight review.

First ask whether the file can be read accurately. Then ask whether its contents satisfy the selected inspection. Finally ask whether the live submission step specifies a particular file type. These are three different checks and should produce three different findings.
