What is Xometry VQC?

VQC is best understood as an evidence review, not a replacement for manufacturing inspection. The reviewer needs enough readable, internally consistent documentation to connect the finished parts to the ordered requirements.

The exact evidence depends on the inspection level and job instructions. Xometry’s public inspection guidance distinguishes standard inspection, formal dimensional inspection, CMM inspection, FAIR/AS9102, source inspection, build-and-hold FAI, and custom inspection. A formal or FAIR job therefore should not be reviewed as though it were a standard-inspection job.

• Correct Xometry or customer part number and drawing revision.
• Ordered, produced, inspected, and shipped quantities that make sense together.
• Numerical results and correlated characteristic numbers where dimensional reporting applies.
• CoCs, material records, special-process certificates, and unbroken heat or lot references when required.
• Required photos of the part, markings, special features, and protected parts in the package.

A clean document review does not prove burr-free workmanship, blind-hole depth, installed hardware condition, coating appearance, packaging protection, or other physical facts unless appropriate inspection or photo evidence is present.

It also does not guarantee acceptance. The purchase order, Workcenter instructions, customer requirements, controlled drawing, and current Xometry directions remain the authority for the specific shipment.

Start with the live purchase order and job instructions. Identify the required inspection type, then gather the inspection report, drawing when permitted, CoCs, material and process certifications, traveler or ownership-chain records, and required photos.

Next, compare the same fields across every document instead of reviewing each file in isolation. Resolve every missing, unreadable, duplicated, or conflicting value. Finish with a qualified physical-release and packaging check before submitting VQC or shipping.
